When you’re starting from the problem, not the role.
A research-grade map of the actual operating engineers behind the title soup. Where they are, what they’ve actually built, who is hireable, what it costs, and what the role should look like to land them.
Market Map is not a sourcing list, a LinkedIn pull, or a list of names with email addresses. It is calibrated intelligence about who is actually shipping the work — across labs, infrastructure companies, agentic systems teams, and forward-deployed orgs — and what it would take to move them.
A structured map across the segments and named cohorts that actually contain the talent. Heat indicators by segment. A read on what the role should look like — level, scope, comp envelope, structural conditions — to land the people who are real. A short list of named, evidence-vetted candidates if the map surfaces them. Delivered to the sponsor.
Three to four weeks. Calibration on the problem, not the role. Structured market research across labs, AI-native infrastructure companies, agentic systems teams, and forward-deployed AI engineering orgs. Evidence-grading on what each cohort has actually shipped. Delivered as a written report, not a slide deck.
Fixed-scope pricing, disclosed before engagement. The fee is paid independently of any downstream Search or Assessment engagement.
Limited to a small number of engagements per quarter. Partner-led and capacity-bounded by design.
Why a Map, not a Search.
A Search burns time and capital against the wrong role specification. The Map answers the prior question — what role, against what cohort, at what level, at what cost, with what structural conditions — before a search is triggered. If the Map shows the people you need are not hireable, we say that. If it shows the role you’ve defined needs to change to land them, we say that. The recommendation follows the evidence.
- A founder or CEO who knows the problem they’re solving but doesn’t yet know what role to hire against it.
- A CTO weighing build vs. buy vs. fractional vs. hire on a new AI-native capability.
- A PE sponsor scoping the engineering hires that anchor a value-creation plan in an AI-shaped portco.
- A CHRO who needs a defensible read on the market before signing off on a senior-mandate JD.
- A team that has tried to hire for the role twice and missed — and wants to know whether the role itself is the problem.
Not a sourcing pull. Not a LinkedIn export. Not a slide deck. Not a substitute for a Search when the buyer already knows the role and wants to move. The Map answers questions a Search isn’t built to answer.

Confidentiality is the default. Sensitive engineering hiring questions, build/buy decisions, and senior-mandate scoping are handled directly by Jason and shared only with agreed stakeholders.
